All Krieger rifle barrels are put through the slowest and most accurate rifling method known as a Single Point Cut. This process leaves you with perfect circularity between the bore and groove that gives way to exact twist rates for improved velocity. Lapping finishes under 16 micro-inches in the bullet travel direction far exceeds government requirements. Reduced barrel fouling and easier cleaning are but a couple of fringe benefits to this multi staged hand lapping a Krieger barrel undergoes. As Krieger barrel dealers ourselves, exceeding expectations is something that we at Gunware, can identify with and appreciate. Whether your custom long range rifle is used for hunting or benchrest, Gunware has what you need.
Custom hunting rifles are an ideal fit for one of our fluted Krieger barrels. Not sure which barrel for hunting you need? Give our expert gunsmiths at Gunware a call. We will gladly hook you up with barrel to suit your needs.
Krieger Barrel FAQs:
Why are Krieger barrels good for long range shooting?
Krieger Barrels uses only the highest grade of hand picked steel to manufacture our multi-staged hand lapped stainless steel and chrome moly barrels, providing for unprecedented heat tolerance, strength and barrel longevity. Each steel lot has been heat tested to the industry’s highest standards. In addition, our Single Point Cutting rifling gives you precise twist rates for improved velocity and precision accuracy needed for long range. Uniform bore and groove dimensions of .0001 through the entire barrel allows for smoother chambering. Individual weight preference with the ability to dissipate heat during competition matches are second to none with optional contours, tapers and fluted barrels in stock with minimal lead time are at a competitive cost to you giving you the winning edge.
How long will a Krieger rifle barrel last on average?
It depends on barrel contour, fluting, and proper care. Ideally, Krieger uses a unique cutting method – the barrel doesn’t need softening. Therefore, the lifespan of a Krieger barrel is longer, lasting to an average of 10,000 rounds under optimum conditions.
What’s the best way to break in a Krieger barrel?
Krieger lapped barrels are made with the finish lying in the direction of bullet travel. This makes fouling minimal and little done to the bore. After your barrel has been chambered for the first time, reamer marks will be left in the throat across the lands and copper dust from jacket material will be deposited throughout the bore. Leaving these deposits in the bore after the first shot, will cause build up and become hard to clean. For this reason, cleaning your barrel after the first shot is necessary for proper barrel break-in.
